Political system

Republic, unicameral parliamentary democracy

Head of State: Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou was sworn in as President on 13 March 2020

Head of Government: Kyriakos Mitsotakis (New Democracy) was reinstated Prime Minister on 26 June 2023 following the early parliamentary elections of June 25th 2023. His party emerged victorious with an absolute majority in the Vouli.

The Vouli ton Ellinon (“Council of the Greeks”) numbers 300 members, elected by proportional vote for a term of four years.
