Political system
Parliamentary republic
Head of State: Zoran Milanović (Social Democratic Party SDP), elected on 5th January 2020 and re-elected on 12 January 2025, for five years by direct universal suffrage.
Prime Minister: Andrej Plenkovic since 19th October 2016 and reelected on April 27th 2024 for 4 years. He leads a coalition between HDZ and the Patriotic movement (DP).
Monocameral parliamentary regime: The Parliament (Hrvatski Sabor) comrising 151 seats; representatives are elected for four years by direct universal suffrage according to proportional representation.
