On 6 December, Romania's Constitutional Court invalidated the results of the first round of the presidential election and cancelled the second round of voting, which had been scheduled for 8 December and was to have pitted the far-right, pro-Russian candidate Călin Georgescu against the liberal Elena Lasconi.
