French voters will elect a new National Assembly after it was dissolved by President Emmanuel Macron in reaction to the crushing victory of the far-right National Rally (RN) in the European elections. After the first round on June 30, the RN is in a position to win an absolute majority, but the left-wing coalition New Popular Front and Macron’s Together coalition have called to block it in the second round.

Will the snap election bring the political “clarification” that Macron said he expected from the vote? Will the far-right be in a position to form a government, or will the radical left play a major role? What will be the impact for the EU of these political developments in France? Will the outcome call into question France’s commitments to NATO and Ukraine

Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials.
